Maharashtra Public School Launches Leadership Lecture Series and Unveils New Education Model
Maharashtra Public School (MPS) marked a historic day on 9th September 2025 with the launch of its Leadership Lecture Series and the unveiling of the school’s new MPS Education ModelTM.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Lt. General Surendra Kulkarni [Retd], former Director of Mayo College, who engaged students on the character and barriers of leadership. He highlighted the key ingredients of leadership—self-awareness, responsibility, sacrifice, and resilience—while cautioning against barriers such as ego, complacency, poor communication, and failure to adapt to changing trends. His message stressed that leadership is not confined to titles but is a lifelong process of integrity, ethics, trust, and empathy. Importantly, he underlined the power of student voice and choice, noting that true leadership empowers individuals to make meaningful contributions both within and beyond the classroom.
The event was graced by President Ashok Mundhe, who delivered an inspiring message to students. He emphasized that the true role of young leaders lies in shaping a better world—not just for themselves, but for the larger community and generations to come. He reminded the audience that leadership is not about privilege, power, or position, but about service, responsibility, and accountability. President Mundhe urged students to recognize themselves as custodians of positive change in the global world, leadership begins with small acts of responsibility in daily life, and when nurtured, these acts grow into a lifelong commitment to service and transformation.
A major highlight of the day was the formal launch of the MPS Education ModelTM by the dignitaries. This model is a multi-layered, holistic framework that reflects the school’s vision for developing globally competent, future-ready learners.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Jagdish C. Sharma, Head of School, shared: “The new MPS Education ModelTM is designed to place learners at the center of the educational journey. It is about preparing them not only for academic success but also for life beyond the classroom—developing compassionate, resilient, and critically aware individuals who will make a meaningful impact on the world.”
